Target:

The seminar provides basic and practical knowledge about the history, construction, manufacture and repair of shoes, with a focus on sneakers and sneakers. The aim is to create an awareness of the complexity and quality of a shoe, both from an industrial and a craftsman’s perspective. Using numerous examples, illustrative materials, videos and live demonstrations, participants will gain a sound insight into the world of shoemaking.

Lecturer:

Rolf Preußer is a passionate shoemaker, self-taught designer and upcycler with over 30 years of experience in the footwear and fashion industry. After working for well-known brands such as ASICS, Converse, Starter and Genesis Footwear, he decided on a radical change of perspective: away from mass production and towards craftsmanship. Today, he runs his own workshop and the Turn Shoe label, which specializes in making individual shoes from salvaged materials. His motto is: “Not new, but better”. He is also an active member of the Repair Rebels initiative, which is committed to sustainable fashion and extending the lifespan of clothing and shoes. With his expertise and commitment to sustainability, he brings valuable impetus to the discussion about future production and consumption methods.
